What cabinets really cost
An advertised cabinet price is cabinets only. It is not delivered, not taxed, and on the cheapest listings not even built. Put the price you have been quoted in below and see what it comes to by the time it is standing in your kitchen.
Why the gap exists
Freight on assembled cabinets runs 10 to 20 per cent of the order value, and assembled orders are specifically excluded from the free shipping offers that make flat pack advertising look cheap. A semi cannot lower a pallet without a liftgate, which is charged separately. Sales tax is added at checkout. And the pallet is left at the kerb, not carried in.
None of that is hidden exactly. It is just not in the number you first see, and it is why two prices that look twenty per cent apart often are not.
